Welcome to the Scientific Drilling DatabaseAccess to data from deep earth sampling and monitoring The Scientific Drilling Database (SDDB) is the repository for data
from operations of the International Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP)
and associated projects. It is operated by GeoForschungsZentrum Data
Centre and by ICDP's Operational Support Group (OSG). To find out more
about ICDP, please visit the ICDP Homepage and the journal Scientific Drilling.
At present, the SDDB is still under construction (Phase Beta 2), but some data are already available. DOIs are now registered and can be resolved. The data published in the Scientific Drilling Database (SDDB) can be accessed through the SDDB data publications or browsed through this online catalogue. All terms in Italics are explained in the Glossary.

This view of the Scientific Drilling Database (SDDB) gives you a list of all Authors of datasets in SDDB. Click on an author name to obtain a list of all datasets authored or co-authored by this person. Go to Author listings ...
If you already know the identifier of the dataset you want to access, just enter the DOI or SDDB dataset ID into the query field provided by this page. Enter Dataset Identifier ...
This view follows the organisational structure for fieldwork prescribed by IODP, ICDP and similar Programs. All field activities are hierarchically ordered by
Program defines the research program that provides the scientific and organisational framework of the fieldwork. The fieldwork campains are called Expedition. The location in the field, where material is sampled, is called a Site. At each site one or more Activities take place, in which material is sampled.
Go to list of Programs and follow the links to -> Expeditions/Campains -> Sites/Holes -> Activities/Cores.
In this view, Activities are ordered by Sampling Gear, the instrument used for sampling. Selecting an Activity gives you a list of all Parameters measured on material from this sample. Search for Activities by Gear ...
In the Scientific Drilling Database all measurement Parameters are ordered by their scientific context. Select the desired category and follow the tree of categories until you reach the appropriate group of parameters. Select a Parameter to obtain a list of all Datasets in which this parameter was measured.
Select a Parameter category and follow the links ...
